"𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙎𝘼𝙏𝙐𝙍𝘿𝘼𝙔 𝙊𝙁 𝙉𝙊 𝙃𝙀𝙎𝙄𝙏𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉" (Pre-Hospital Hours)

𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬 25.

I thought it was going to be just another typical Saturday.

Since it was the weekend and I didn't have work, I allowed myself to sleep in a little. The first thing I did when I woke up was prepare breakfast for NANAY. As usual, I had to gently persuade her to eat just one piece of bread while she sipped her coffee. I skipped my own breakfast since it was Saturday anyway.

I then started doing my usual household chores and opened Nanay545Store for the day. By around 8:00 a.m., I was already seated in front of my computer, working on school requirements while attending to customers at the store.

At around 9:00 a.m., NANAY got up and sat down. At first, I thought it was just another episode of discomfort, the same way she had been complaining over the past two days. But this time, something was different. The pain seemed more intense. Then she said something that immediately caught my attention—she wanted to see a doctor.

Her first suggestion was to go to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH). I gently disagreed, reminding her that we were already living in Cavite and no longer in Makati. I was worried about the long trip, especially given her condition.

At that very moment, I happened to be online chatting with one of my former students, "SARAH", who is now working as a nurse in the United States. Our conversation suddenly turned into what felt like a consultation over the phone.

I carefully described everything NANAY had been experiencing. Whenever my former student asked questions for clarification, I would immediately relay them to NANAY and pass along her answers.

After listening to all of her symptoms, "SARAH" explained several possible conditions that could be causing my mother's pain. She also gave me advice on what I could do temporarily while we were still at home.

But before ending our convo, she gave me one clear recommendation: Don't wait for the weekend to pass or hope that she'll simply get better on her own. Bring NANAY to the emergency room or have her examined by a doctor immediately.

Hearing those words made me realise that this was no longer something we could simply observe and hope would improve. Sometimes, when the person you love most asks for help, you don't hesitate—you simply act.

And that's exactly what I did.
